Young people in North Lincolnshire are being given the chance to move, express themselves, and build confidence through Street Beat – a dynamic street dance programme made possible by a £5,000 grant from North Lincolnshire Council’s Positive Activities scheme.
Running weekly for 31 weeks across three community venues, the sessions are designed to do more than just teach dance. They offer a safe, inclusive space where young people can:
- Build self-esteem and confidence
- Stay active and healthy
- Develop creativity and teamwork
- Connect with others in their community
- Work with experienced dance professionals
- Perform on stage and showcase their talent.
With 30 places available, the programme is open to young people of all abilities who want to try something new, make friends, and be part of something exciting.
The session details are as follows:
- Monday, 5pm to 5.45pm at Live Well Isle of Axholme, Burnham Road, Epworth DN9 1BZ.
- Thursday, 4.45pm to 6.15pm at Westcliff Community Centre, 7 Newbolt Avenue, DN17 1PE.
- Thursday, 6.30pm to 7.15pm at CrosbyOne Centre, Digby Street, DN15 7LU.
Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children, families and communities, said: “Street Beat is a fantastic example of how we can empower our young people through creativity and community.
“These kinds of projects are the heartbeat of our local areas – helping young people live their best lives and build a brighter future.
“The scheme supports projects that give young people creative, meaningful ways to spend their time and Street Beat is a shining example of that mission in action.”
