Part of The Culture House’s long running summer programme, Picnic in the Park takes place on Sunday afternoons in August, within the beautiful surroundings of People’s Park – a Victorian park in central Grimsby.
This free programme brings the under-used bandstand to life with national, regional and local live music, inviting residents and visitors to come along, relax, bring a picnic and enjoy. The programme celebrates local talent, hosting young musicians including youth bands and choirs and enables residents to experience new and familiar sounds across world music, jazz, classical, indie and more.
Alongside this, there’ll be:
- Free creative activities for children
- Plus fantastic activities as part of the brand new Own Your Heritage Programme with Unseen Arts and birdhouse.
- Children, young people and their families can find out more about the history of People’s Park while taking part in aerial circus activities and sketching.
There’s also a chance for young people to gain a ‘Discover Arts Award’ on the day (can be finished at home) by taking part in activities and interviewing the artists there, all with the help of their families.
With much more to be announced, we’re excited to welcome you!
Thanks to our sponsors, AP Robinson, Orsted, Harrison Ices, Ramsdens International. A big thanks to Scops Trust for supporting this and next year’s local and regional music programme. We aim to support local talent while also bringing you something new!
